I still remember the words of my OC during our passing out ceremony and he said that he was proud to have led us, his first batch of PES C2 recruits. For despite being PES C2, many of us had the enthusiasm of the PES A/B recruits. We have little of actual combat training and hence most our time was spent doing saikang. But at the end of the day, it has been more than an honour to have been through all this. PES C does not have to be the slacker's path in NS, neither is it the most tediously routine one either. Coming out of BMT has taught me that what good we do, we do because we want to do it. In other words, how the rest of the 2 years becomes is not a matter of posting, but of personal choice.
Everyone has their part to play. Not every soldier will fight. But it still means that every soldier can do his best. I've decided that I won't let the rest of my 2 years go to waste. As one of our songs goes "why must we serve"; its not because of nationalistic pride, or that I love our land and my loved ones, but because I want to.

Hardware for C&C3
Mar. 27th, 2007 | 04:18 pm
At last with a 9.0 rating in Gamespot, one can only wonder what such a cool game would require to play it to the max. The hardware review posted the following as the "optimal" spec
Graphics Card:
2048x1536, Very High Quality, 2xAA: GeForce 8800 GTX 768mb
1600x1200, High Quality: Radeon X1650 XT 256mb
1024x768, Medium Quality: GeForce 6200 TC 128mb
CPU Under 2048x1536, Very High Quality, 4xAA Settings:
Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 3.00 GHz
OR
Core2 Extreme X6800 @ 2.93GHz
OR
Core2 Duo 6300 @ 1.86GHz (THIS IS COMFORTING)
Memory For 2048x1536, Very High Quality, 4xAA Settings:
OR
1GB Corsair XMS - being the minimum
I think the ideal setup would be
Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (2.93 GHz), 2GB Corsair XMS Memory (1GB x 2), 160GB Seagate 7200.7 SATA Hard Disk Drive, Windows XP Professional SP2. Graphics Card: Radeon X1650 XT 256mb.
These are some of the in game graphics settings that Gamespot showed in their hardware review
High Quality Image Setting
High Quality Shadow
High Quality Texture
High Quality Shader Detail

A tribute to C&C3
Mar. 21st, 2007 | 11:00 am
Our progression thus far could be similar to that of the development of a standard GDI base. Birth is likened to the Construction Yard, where given no experience at all, a priori knowledge dictates every player to build a powerplant before anything else takes place. Eventually we enter a basic refinement of our speech and actions typically through the ages of 3-5, something like building the refinery. Then we enter primary education, which is the barracks, where all the bread and butter infantry are produced. Eventually we go into secondary school aka the war factory. Thats where literally the big guns come out and things get harder, relatively. Also at this period, typical human development is significant because of puberty and all the rush about social awareness, emotional sensitivity and expressions, so on...Thats like the radar. Eventually you hit a crossroad of what you want to do in JC, or where to spend that 3k in a skirmish map before you begin a proper assault. Normally people put it into a tech centre or an airfield, but for the sake of this post, lets put into the supply depot. That allows you to build minelayers.
Minelayers are like the brain cells that allow for mugging. As my dad always used to tell me, every exam is some sort of a battle, the one who goes in fully prepared will win (obviously not having seen the power of an ion cannon yet XD). Anyways, mugging is like mine-laying. The more usually the better but strategic placement always helps. The goal is to lay enough mines to blow up all incoming enemy forces (likened to tests, exams assignments etc). The effectiveness of this is measured in terms of the blast resulting in a crater. The radius of the crater is measured to see who is the best, 100 usually being the perfect radius, but depending on personality, some would settle for a 70 or others would get 80 and say they've "failed".
Problems with this are burnout. Sometimes your minelayer needs to return to the depot for a refill, but because of the deployment of mines, it gets bombed by its own mines, which is damn sad/laughable (if you are not the one). Either way this is very undesired.
The reality of this out of the school context is that while we are so caught up in laying mines for the big one, we forget that an enemy assault may be an aerial one.

I still remember
Mar. 13th, 2007 | 10:15 am
How you looked that afternoon
There was only you
You said "it's just like a full moon"
Blood beats faster in our veins
We left our trousers by the canal
And our fingers, they almost touched
You should have asked me for it
I would have been brave
You should have asked me for it
How could I say no?
And our love could have soared
Over playgrounds and rooftops
Every park bench screams your name
I kept your tie
I've gone wherever you wanted
(I still remember)
And on that teachers' training day
We wrote our names on every train
Laughed at the people off to work
So monochrome and so lukewarm
And I can see our days are becoming nights
I could feel your heartbeat across the grass
We should have run
I would go with you anywhere
I should have kissed you by the water
You should have asked me for it?
And our love could have soared?
I would let you if you asked me
I still remember

This week
Mar. 12th, 2007 | 10:00 pm
All this aside, i think i have managed to clear a great load off recently. I've never really wanted to understand a person so fully that i knew him/her inside out. It'd totally take the fun out of life, i mean where's the sense of mystery and suspense? Its easier to just let somethings remain unresolved.
Peace out. Till march 26, when C&C3 comes in =D

YAWP! server. Pretty happy with what has been done, though i think it could've been improved, esp in terms of browser compatibility. Anyways, this together with the most amusing bet ever has led me to be very happy! I'm getting a proper one next weekend! Though so far its only for Cafe, I'm thinking of moving the litwing one over too, to see if its easy to port the entire thing to a different machine.
YAWP! filler item. GG indeed! Can't say it was the best but we sure did have alot of fun doing it. Shoutout to greg, hee, jack, alfred, zhang, shangda, colin, syl and all the others who have helped us in 1 way or another. In everyway, this marks the last of our filler items, so yeah, its been great working with you guys. Oh not to forget, fish who has helped us too previously!
Zoator TD. Ryan, if you are reading this, get the map from either rachael or me. Its...complicated to play. No idea how it really works and i am leaking at level 2! argh
Startup 07. We got into the semi-finals! Very proud of the team and all the effort they have put into the project. (Though i am pretty sure none of them will see this post) Jiayou guys! Things worth noting.

| ESTP - "Promotor". Action! When present, things begin to happen. Fiercely competitive. Entrepreneur. Often uses shock effect to get attention. Negotiator par excellence. 4.3% of total population. |
People with ESTP preferences are interested in everything going on around them - activities, food, clothes (uhh really), people and the outdoors. ESTPs tend to be
1. practical and realistic
2. observant
3. focused on immediate experience
ESTPs make decisions by logical analysis and reasoning and can be tough when the situation calls for toughness. For the most part, however, they prefer to deal flexibly with what is, rather than making judgments. ESTPs are usually
1. analytical, rational and good problem solvers
2. straightforward and assertie
ESTPs are strong in the art of living. Others respond to their enthusiasm and good humour; they love life and immerse themselves in it. ESTPs are people of action. They dislike and avoid theory and written directions. Traditional schools can be difficult for people with these preferences, though ESTPs do well when they see the relevance and are allowed to experiment. Others view ESTPs as
1. Gregarious, fun-loving and spontaneneous
2. adventurous risk-takers
3. pragmatic trouble-shooters and problem solvers

Does it sound true?

The track from Mission Impossible 2 Soundtrack called INJECTION. The name says it all.

DotA Continued
Apr. 28th, 2006 | 07:06 pm
Guys - Boon, Fish, Ai Nan, Tristan, Ryan, Greg, Hee
Girls - Rachael, Siewch, Karen, Amanda, Lisabel, Jasmine, Veron, Helen
Holy shit, yes, more girls than guys! 1 day we will be so pwned. 1 day. Someday. Maybe. Not. But anyway, the most hilarious match of the century occured today when Amanda played against Jasmine.
me: ok, Guys! For this match, we wun say a thing!
jack, Boon, hee, greg, ryan: HAHAHA
boon: this match will be entertaining
hee: Oh My SON (or SUN, but seriously whatever)
And it sure was the most hilarious match ever, there was fingering at first, and it became double fingering after a while. Jasmine also frequently impaled amanda, either before fingering her or after. LOL. But seriously, the match was pretty good and both of them "fought" hard, and though they weren't very good, they still managed to pull through almost all the basics very well.
PS Fingering - Casting the spell Finger of Death (aka shortform fingering)
Impale - Spell called impale (no comment needed)

DOTA! A14 VS A15!!
Its a pity its only a 3v3, but we'll get more people to join (hopefully). But for now, lets look at the team A14 is sending, we have:
1. Boon (Roshan)
2. Fish (Scary Fish)
3. Tristan (Pudge / Bristleback)
[note: bristleback on began today because acc to someone both the person and the character he was using bore an uncanny resemblance...i wonder who XD]
This competition has seen a dormant Roshan suddenly spring to life and to revoke his claims that "I WILL QUIT DOTA!" and suddenly say "WHEN IS THE NEXT MATCH". It has also brought several other people to join the DotA family...not forgetting Greg's very interesting training sesisons too.

Not forgetting everyone else who has helped us along this journey. It was all that you've done that kept us going (and laughing some times).
1. Michelle - For the 1003583409580923th time, you do NOT have fat legs
2. Jack - your ending scream was damn hilarious
3. Clara/Gen/denise - a big thanks for helping with the shooting
4. Chao Han /Ming Hao / Elgina - for being in the show! =)
Secondly, we'll (hopefully) be doing a real shoot of the MTV, a serious 1 without school uniform and with a proper cast (the crushes).
yup thats about it. =)
